Microsoft has announced its new feature in Skype, group video calling. It is been made available for iOS and Android users from March. In this month i.e., on 19th February 2016, the group video calling feature has been started rolling out in Europe and US. The complete release of this feature all over the world would be completed in the next moth March 2016.
And this latest feature, free group calling supports full HD broadcast and supports up to 25 participants. All the participants of the group call are seen in the grid view.
Up to now, the Skype allowed up to 5 participants only in a group chat and even users could swipe through that lineup and can find an individual called and “pin” them to the screen. But now Microsoft has collaborated with Intel to enable SILK Super Wide Band audio codec to run on Azure cloud servers that are powered by Intel’s processors. With the use of this Super Wide Audio Band, Microsoft could provide very clear audio. The clear audio is assured even with increased number of participants.
Microsoft also extending with one more feature of extending the Skype, Skype chat invitation features to the devices with iOS and Android. This feature allows users to invite people to a group conversation and lets users participate in a video call using Skype for web.
Group video calling would be really significant feature as the similar feature available ion Google hangouts allows up to 10 persons and , is not supported by iPhone Facetime.
